The US Citizenship and Immigration Services has notified that the maximum cap of H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2020 has been reached. The congress had allowed 65,000 to be accepted for the year.
H-1B Visa is the non-migrant visas that allows US Companies to employ individuals with technical knowledge.
The tech companies in US hire huge number of professionals from India and China.
USCIS said that, “it has received a sufficient number of petitions projected as needed to reach the congressionally-mandated 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap for fiscal year 2020.”
The agency also clarified that it will reject and refund the fees of all unselected petitions. The agency however, did not specify whether it would use computerized lots this year.
The USCIS received 232,972 H-1B cap-subject petitions in 2016 and in 2015, it received 172,581 cap-subjected petitions
