A Lithuanian man has been accused of duping a combined amount of Rs 836 crore from the tech giants Facebook and Google between 2013 and 2015.
Evaldas Rimasauskas has managed to steal a whooping amount of Rs 678 crore from Facebook and Rs 157 crore from Google by the means of a simple plan.
The man in question sent invoices to the tech giants asking payments for things they have not ordered. Interestingly, both companies paid the money shown in the invoice.
To main the veracity and authenticity of the invoice, the man sent forged paperwork, including contracts and falsely signed letters.
The man also took a step further and impersonated a hardware company Quanta Computer Inc. The authorities in Facebook and Google did not bother to check the legitimacy of the submitted documents. After the tech giants paid him, the man transferred the amount to different accounts in Cyprus, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia and Latvia.
However, the authorizes have finally caught him and now faces charges of wire fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
